A renowned Economist of international repute, Dr. Ibe Okwara Osonwa has declared his intention to contest the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state.
He made his intentions of representing his people at the Lower Chambers of the National Assembly (NASS) known in a short video sighted by the THE WHISPERER on his official facebook page.
In the video, he said: “The best way to tackle some of the displeasure we feel as a people is to transform these feelings into actions that matter enough, most especially when the capacity and the passion to serve are not in doubt. Consequently, this need to get involved.
“My relentless passion for improving the plight of our community is the reason I am officially declaring my intention to run for the federal office representing Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency.
“My involvement in this field is not in doubt, and my involvement is to ensure that things actually get done in order for our people to benefit from the dividends of this democracy that our fathers and mothers fought for.
“I am coming from a background where timelines are key; deliverables are important and, those things that will bring to bear in this drive.
“As we all know, politics is one of the biggest race in which people come together to drive change in their community. Let us as a community come out to drive this change. We cannot stay silent and expect things to remain the same. We need to work towards that change that we desire.
“My people, in 2019, you all came out in numbers to support my drive; all be it, the things that happens in our political field happened again, but what I implore all of you is to remain steadfast, remain committed. I plead on you all to come out and support my campaign again like you did.”
Short Profile of Ibe Okwara Osonwa
Ibe Okwara Osonwa was the candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal constituency of Abia State at the 2019 general elctions. He was born in London on the 24th of December 1974 into the family of Chief Okwara Osonwa Okwara & Chief Mrs Grace Okwara.
He attended Federal Government College Okigwe, North London College, University of North London where he graduated with two degrees in Accounting and International Business.
After his NYSC programme in Lagos State, he advanced his working career into the Financial Sector. Ibe Okwara was an Advisory Analyst with Bromley Asset Management where he actively worked in the set of the first mobile network in Nigeria (Econet). Having worked in the financial sector for a number of years he went on to secure qualifications as an SAP FICO consultant and set up his own private consultancy providing financial sector clients such as Deutshce Bank, ABSA Bank, LeasePlan, Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers ERP consultancy. His consultancy has delivered quality advice and solutions across other sectors such as telecommunications, oil & gas, media, manufacturing, business management and construction.
In 2016, Ibe Okwara became a co-founder of People’s Grassroot Social Equality And Development Initiative Nigeria, (PSGEDI), an initiative for the Nigerian youth that seeks to provide charitable donations to the society. He is a founding member of Peoples Equity Movement a political movement for young Nigerian seeking an equal voice in the Nigerian political discussion.
His vision is to effectively serve the people and consequently provide them a better quality of life. A comprehensive delineation of how he intends to foster the policies that will truly precipitate positive change for his constituents locally, and those of the federation of Nigeria at large are outlined in the policy manifesto document with outlined points such as; support scheme for the widow and aged, Employment opportunities and empowerment for the youth, infrastructural facilities development for public schools & hospitals, interest free-loan for traders, sports development, regular consultation cum interaction with constituents and adequate representation and support for all developmental bills at the National assembly.
He is a very passionate Nigerian advocate who believes in the empowerment of the vibrant youth. Ibe Okwara is happily married to Abosede Okwara and they are blessed with three children.
