The people of Ebem Ohafia, Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, witnessed a significant milestone as Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa (Oke Abba 1 of Ohafia) officially flagged off the construction of a 3km Federal High Court Road, Mgbaga – Arochukwu/Bende Road in Ebem Ohafia Local Government Area (LGA) of Abia State.
The project, facilitated by Osonwa and executed by Mandsons Global Services Ltd., is expected to enhance road accessibility, ease traffic congestion, and promote economic development in the region, a statement by the office of Osonwa said.
During the event, His Royal Highness Eze Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, the paramount ruler of Ebem Ohafia, emphasised the road’s significance, noting that it serves as the only route leading into Ebem Ancestral Village.
Ukoha expressed that the project would ease movement, especially during festive seasons, when traffic congestion is at its peak.
Also speaking at the occasion, Chief Dr. Eme Eme, Deputy Chairman of Ohafia Local Government, commended Osonwa for his commitment to infrastructural development.
He also assured the community of continued efforts to bring democratic dividends to the people of Ohafia.
Representing Osonwa at the event, Hon. Ukariwe Uduma, reassured residents that more developmental projects would be executed across the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.
He urged communities in both Arochukwu and Ohafia LGAs to remain patient, as projects would be implemented in phases to ensure equitable distribution of resources.
Expressing the community’s appreciation, Hon. Chief Lochi Ngam, 1st Vice President General of the Ebem Ohafia Development Union (EODU), who represented Chief Emeka Mba, President General of EODU, promised of the community’s support for the project and lauded Osonwa for his vision in advancing the constituency.

In a personal message, Chief Emeka Mba (Atu-Igbo), President General of the Ebem Ohafia Development Union (EODU), extended his heartfelt appreciation to Osonwa for his tireless efforts in ensuring the commencement of the road construction.
He said: “I will personally like to thank Honourable Ibe Okwara Osonwa (Oke-Aba Ohafia) on the official start of the construction of the 3KM Mgbaga Road. This special gratitude cannot be downsized because of the several meetings held in his residence and phone calls on the need to improve our infrastructural deficit.
“We celebrated this feat when it was captured in the 2024 budget, and I am glad that the financing has finally been approved with this flag-off.”
He further lauded Osonwa’s dogged and resilient representation in the Green Chamber of the Nigerian legislature, emphasising his consistent support for the growth and development of the Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal Constituency.
“I have never fallen short in my support for him and his astute representation. He will continue to have my full backing. My prayer is for him to have the strength, health, and tenacity to see this project across the finish line.
“This is one of the many projects that will be availed to Ebem Ohafia within the shortest period of time, to ensure we are counted amongst the community of communities with enhanced infrastructure,” he added.
Apologising for his absence at the event due to personal and health-related engagements, Mba reaffirmed his commitment to supporting infrastructural development in Ebem Ohafia.
The flag-off ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including: Hon. Ukariwe Inyima – Councilor representing Ebem Oha Ward in Ohafia Legislative Council, EODU Executives, Ebem Youth Leaders, Ebem Council of Chiefs and Elders, Party members, ward councilors, association leaders, and various support groups.
The Eze Ogo Ebem in Council, Ebem Ohafia Development Union (EODU), and the entire people of Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom expressed their profound gratitude to Osonwa for this landmark project.
They also reaffirmed their support for his administration and looked forward to continued infrastructural transformation in the constituency.
